South West French Island was envisioned as a camp site open to paddlers of the Penobscot River, in Old Town, Maine.

This conception met with reality when the City pointed out that zoning code would not allow campsites on land zoned as residential.

The City is correct, and SWFI is no longer part of the Penobscot River Trail System.

We apologize to the City of Old Town for this presumption. It was an error on our part, not malicious in nature, but naive in execution.
